A man is shot and killed. His body dies, but not his spirit. Before leaving this world for the next, he must collect a procedure to warn his lover that she is in impending concern from the culprits. Sound objective a dinky familiar? It should. The opinion for this memoir is loosely based on none other then “Hamlet”. This though is not quite as deep or complex as Shakespeare’s mammoth tragedy. It is however, a notion provoking, touching anecdote that has a itsy-bitsy something for everybody. It’s got romance, comedy, mystery and suspense, fantasy, action and most importantly…WHOOPI!

So how does Sam(Patrick Swayze) manage to gain contact with his beloved Molly(Demi Moore) after his death? Well he goes through a psychic of course. Not unprejudiced any psychic though..he finds a medium who’s larger than life..Oda Mae Brown(Whoopi Goldberg) .

Together, they turn Molly into a believer(along with the audience) and tear down the murderous thugs out to bag her.

The action, and suspense will sustain you on the edge of your seat, the romance will thrill you and the special effects are elegant. Whoopi Goldberg is wonderful, and provides the astounding silly relief in the narrative, as a con artist who finds herself with a gift to give. She took home an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for this 1990 film. The film was also honored with the Best Current Screenplay. Swayze and Moore seem like they were made for each other and will have you believing in worship ever after.

The DVD presents a nice sure record in widescreen and the sound gives you the choice of DD5.1 surround or stereo surround. It may also be viewed in French(stereo) and has English subtitles for those needing them. The features include commentary by the Director(Jerry Zucker), and Writer (Bruce Joel Rubin), as well as an informative retrospective on the film(this is where I learned of the “Hamlet” connection) .

The film is rated PG-13. There are some scenes of violence and of course there’s the very sensuous clay sculpting scene to the tune of “Unchained Melody”(who can ever forget that?!)

If you have already seen this movie, and know it’s one that you will recognize over and over(and to that I would say “Ditto”), this mountainous DVD is a bargain. If you haven’t seen it, it’s well worth a try and will sustain everybody interested for the entire length of the film.

Go for it and indulge in….Laurie

A picture-perfect modern-day romance that tells an spicy romantic tale, “Ghost” is one of the best romantic films ever made. In it, we study unbiased what lengths someone will go to for their appreciate for someone else, and also shows us that the adore we have for someone in our life goes on after death. Director Jerry Zucker, and acting by Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg, all get this movie a landmark that everybody knows about.

What is so special about the tale is the connection between the two romantic leads. Swayze plays Sam Wheat, who, with his longtime girlfriend Molly, is remodeling a penthouse apartment in Original York, where they soon live together, completely elated and in cherish. We have no reason to request the savor epic angle because the direction and acting swear us from the very beginning the nature of their relationship, and does it in understandable terms. Sam also works for a major banking corporation, where he has a best friend Carl, who seems more than willing to bewitch obvious workloads off of Sam’s shoulders. One night, Sam and Molly are status upon by a thief, who demands Sam’s wallet, and after a struggle, Sam is left with a fatal gunshot injure. Of course, being wearisome, he is now a ghost, and must perceive as Molly comes to the realization that her lover is tiresome.

The acting of these two actors is what makes all of this incredibly affecting, most especially Molly’s coping with Sam’s sudden exit from her life. She keeps his personal things, as well as any limited scrap of paper or memory she can absorb onto, with Sam watching all of this from tedious her shoulder and Carl trying his best to comfort and console her. Sam soon pays a visit to a con artist medium named Otta Mae Brown, played by Whoopi Goldberg, who is the only person that Sam is able to talk to. The comedy of the movie really picks up as we are given scenes of Brown walking in the streets arguing with the air, talking to the walls, and having hissy fits with Sam in public. Goldberg is really given a chance to shine in this role, playing out some of her best lines and material ever.

Comedy then mixes with drama and action as the station reveals that Carl was a mastermind slow a kill conspiracy. Carl is in desperate need of money, and when he found out that Sam was in charge of a four million dollar bank anecdote, he hired a hitman to have Sam killed in order to try and bewitch over the memoir and consume the money. As he further tries to worm his design into Molly’s life, Sam becomes more and more distinct to try and gain a contrivance of reaching her aside from giving Otta Mae instructions on what to say to her. Swayze is able to give us a powerhouse performance here, as his character sits serve and can do nothing to physically protect his esteem. He feels old, helpless, and these emotions are played out brilliantly.

The film won an Academy Award, one of two, for Best Fresh Screenplay for 1990. The script is a melting pot of many different elements: comedy that comes from the relationship of Otta Mae and Sam’s collaboration, supernatural elements stemming from the ghost angle, thriller techniques that reside in the mystery of Sam’s death and Carl’s intentions, and most notable, the worship sage that Molly and Sam live out, which serves as the basis for everything that happens. It has a shrimp bit of everything for everyone, which gave diverse audiences what they wanted and made it a sheer success among people.

Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze both give beneficial performances that maintain the esteem anecdote going. They both have a chemistry that never stops or staggers the film, but keeps it going. Whoopi Goldberg is Otta Mae Brown, a role she was born to play and for which she won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her droll genius and diverse areas of acting play a major role, and sometimes become the heart of the film. Tony Goldwyn plays the conniving Carl, and does so effectively. He is one of those few people in a movie that the audience can truly abhor for his crimes, and when the ending comes, it is pure satisfaction to scrutinize him accumulate what’s coming to him.

“Ghost” is nothing short of a successful movie, keeping us enthralled with comedic, romantic and thrilling elements, making us enjoy in things beyond this world. It never stops challenging, it is utterly unique, and it keeps us at the edge of our seats as well as tugging at our hearts.

When one thinks of the name Moustapha Akkad, if one thinks of it at all, the notion most likely concerns the “Halloween” franchise. After all, Akkad financed the first film and eventually took over the rest of the series. Every time you gaze a modern entry in the “Halloween” canon, Akkad is probably the one to blame. But few people know that Moustapha Akkad also directed tale films about Arab history in the slow 1970s and early 1980s, or that these films are extraordinarily laudable cinematic pieces well worth watching today. Arab history certainly wouldn’t infamous high on anyone’s list nowadays with the explosion in Islamic fundamentalism and the terrorist attacks of September 2001 tranquil in the forefront of our minds. That’s too awful because this recount starring Anthony Quinn, Rod Steiger, and Oliver Reed is not only immensely watchable, it also presents a different viewpoint on the relationship between the West and the Arabic world. Most importantly, this movie shows that Moustapha Akkad hasn’t always sat around collecting checks from his “Halloween” projects.

“Lion of the Desert” opens in the year 1922 suitable after Benito Mussolini took control of the Italian government. As many historians know, Il Duce speedy decided one design to bolster his fascist dictatorship was to expose it as a renewed Roman Empire. One of his first priorities as a conquering Augustus was to renew efforts to pacify the Bedouin tribes in the Italian colony of Libya. After ascertaining that the leader of the Bedouin resistance is a man named Omar Mukhtar, Mussolini handpicks one of his most ruthless and genuine generals, Rodolfo Graziani, as the modern governor of the colony. Graziani’s mission is to go to Libya and atomize these pesky desert nomads in any blueprint he sees fit. The Italian presence in Libya dates benefit some twenty years, and Il Duce isn’t about to lose the territory on his eye. His general soon sails to Libya with a few recent ideas on how to defeat the Arab resistance, and he won’t let anyone stand in his arrangement. Graziani is such a ruthless tyrant that even Omar Mukhtar recognizes his name when told the general is now the unusual governor. Mukhtar isn’t about to unprejudiced let Graziani roll over his people, while the general intends to boom Mukhtar a lesson he and his people will never forget.

This movie overflows with magnificently choreographed battle sequences sharp thousands of extras. Moreover, Akkad and his crew took ample worry to reproduce the Italian military equipment down to the smallest details. It must have killed some of the craftsmen on the movie to scrutinize months of painstaking labor go up in a two second explosion, something that happens on a frequent basis during the film as the Bedouins routinely extinguish endless numbers of armored cars and tanks. According to the makers of “Lion of the Desert,” Graziani was the first military commander to employ tanks in the desert, and the movie portrays this historic battle in substantial detail. It is difficult to say which battle sequence is the best, although I would definitely lean towards the artillery barrage in the valley when Italian field cannons inaugurate up on entrenched Bedouins in the caves on the side of a mountain. The sound and fury of this encounter looks vast on DVD, with the explosions of the shells literally booming out of my sound system.

The performances really beget this film a winner. Rod Steiger plays Benito Mussolini with all of the scramble you would seek information from from an actor portraying the pompous fascist dictator. Oliver Reed works wonders as the cold-hearted Graziani. The best performance in the film is definitely Anthony Quinn’s turn as Omar Mukhtar. Not only does he notice like the exact historical figure, as seen by photographic comparisons made in one of the extras on the DVD, he strikes fair the true balance of compassion and controlled ferocity. The meeting between Mukhtar and Graziani towards the kill of the film fills the cloak with drama, along with several statements made by Mukhtar that would apply to any conquered peoples on the face of the earth. The 162 miniature runtime insures that most of the characters receive appropriate development.

Arguably, the most emotional and tense scenes in “Lion of the Desert” occur when Graziani institutes his concept to do the Bedouin population in concentration camps in order to force Mukhtar and his freedom fighters to surrender. The film ingeniously stages scenes of the concentration camps and then, without missing a beat, tacks on steady film footage from the Italian occupation showing an aerial notion of the prisons. Unlike Hitler with the Jews, the Italians did not gas Bedouins in these camps, but thousands of Bedouins did die from awful conditions. Moreover, Graziani ordered the fields burned and the execution by both bullet and noose of innocent civilians to avenge Italian battle casualties. For a PG rated movie, the atrocities and battle deaths are extremely bloody.

The DVD looks expansive, with a widescreen describe transfer and a slew of extras. The making of documentary outlines a regain of intelligent facts about the production of the film, such as the need to get an entire city in the desert to house and feed the thousands of people primitive during the production. According to the trailer and a few references in the making of documentary, the film originally bore the title “Omar Mukhtar.” I mediate the title they went with was a shimmering choice, however, because it makes you reflect about who qualifies as the actual lion of the desert. Is it Graziani or is it Mukhtar? Well, it is both men as they test each other’s mettle through years of combat. If you like historical epics, be distinct and contemplate this one soon.

“Lion of the Desert” tells the narrative of a school-teacher turned guerrilla fighter, trying to save a cessation to Italian invasion and colonization of his country, Libya. This movie is excellently filmed, and the scenery and action are spell-binding. Most critics in America disliked this movie simply because it’s about Libya, and an principal episode of its history. But if you conception this movie with an initiate mind, you’ll explore that not only is it well made, but it’s also inspirational. The characters and conflicts portrayed are valid, and I collect the movie a resplendent tribute to the courage and tenacity of the Libyan patriots who fought and died against Fascist Italy, long-before Mussolini’s forays into Abyssinia, Civil War Spain, and the Second World War. These people were fighting for their freedom and independence, and their gallant example should inspire all of us.

I grew up with MacGyver, watching him in two different households on two continents (one with subtitles!) as I was growing up. For about three years, after having watched shows like 24, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel on DVD, I wondered when they would release MacGyver on DVD. I raced out in my car this past week when this DVD situation was released and prepared myself for a MacGyver marathon.

As I plowed through the first two discs, however, my enthusiasm began to wane a dinky. The first thing that made me wary was the DVD menu. This is without a doubt the single laziest DVD release I’ve ever seen — no chapter selection menu, no commentary tracks, no appreciations, no cast/crew comments (even in written beget), no interviews, not even episode histories or a booklet. Search For, MacGyver had existed for so long in my world that I had wanted to know exactly how the indicate began, when, and in what context. You will win *nothing* of the sort on this DVD. This DVD space redefines “no frills” — each episode is divided into six chapters that aren’t accessible by chapter menus, only by pressing track forward and serve keys. Six chapters per one-hour episode! Do the math — each episode is 46 to 48 minutes long, so each chapter is eight minutes. In TV terms, enough for four to six scenes.

The represent and sound quality are dazzling terrible as well. On some episodes this is not noticeable, but on others, I behold degraded sound quality, film scratches, and worse peaceful, shots that gaze like compressed Avid outputs, where even colour correction appeared to have been skipped. Distinct, it’s an dilapidated indicate and some degradation may have happened to the unique film and tapes, but geez, the Rhino releases of The Transformers, Celestial Pictures’ release of even older Shaw Brothers films, and the Criterion Collection’s restoration of Fritz Lang’s M (a film over 70 years worn) all had far more impressive restoration jobs. This MacGyver DVD space didn’t seem to have any restoration at all. For a expose like MacGyver, as finish to my heart as a grade-school trophy, this was disheartening to glance. Paramount Home Video seems to have taken the garage-sale advance to this release — sell it like it is, warts and all, and with the show’s dependable fan unsuitable, it’ll probably bag bought no matter what. I certainly bought it without batting an gaze, but I’m not entirely gratified with the product.

The express is fairly erratic. The pilot was exactly the MacGyver I’d remembered and loved — fast-paced, appetizing, with a lead character who’s become a towering pop-culture icon, the ultimate boyscout, the most wholesome of action heroes, who despises guns, is not that ample at melee fighting (sore fists after punching — a MacGyver trademark), and relies on wits rather than brawn. Richard Dean Anderson is the lovable, boyishly comely hero we remember, and his work holds up well; not too hammy, charming, quite subtle with both his comedic and dramatic work. I was also jubilant to examine ubiquitous ’80s actress Darlanne Fluegel in the episode, playing a sidekick who isn’t fair a wallflower, and the credits held two major shocks — I had never known that it was Randy Edelman who had written the opening theme (one of my favourite TV themes), and the fabled Tak Fujimoto (The Silence of the Lambs) was the cinematographer on this episode!

A couple of things in this situation of episodes, however, don’t bear up well. One is the general acting. Especially in the first 10 episodes or so, I was skittish to witness some of the worst acting I’d ever seen on TV, especially on the piece of many of the villains and a few of the admire interests. Most glaring are Peter Jurasik as Dr. Charles Alden in the episode “Trumbo’s World” and Christopher Neame as maniac Quayle in “Deathlock”. The directing, writing and editing varied wildly as well — “The Heist” was often positively amateurish in execution. It’s no wonder on this episode we obtain the DGA’s long-standing pseudonym “Alan Smithee” in the director’s credit, a rarity in television which happens when a director refuses credit on a film or prove. Sometimes the acting and dialogue are almost cartoonish. These elements in combination suggested to me that maybe this reveal was better for younger audiences than myself, which may fable for why it’s held the imagination of so many of us years ago.

But a astronomical allotment of the quandary was because the first chunk of this first season was an anomaly among TV creations. For reasons unknown (this is where I wish they’d included some bonus materials to yarn for this), the pilot aside, the first shows impartial don’t resemble the MacGyver I’ve known and loved. The MacGyver I loved has Dana Elcar as the distinguished Pete Thornton, the terrific villain Murdoc (Michael des Barres), and a clear kind of character dynamic that helped ground the central conceit of MacGyver as super-boyscout hero. Somehow, the first episodes of this season dispensed with what most TV shows call their “franchise”, which is a core group of developing characters, familiar settings, and throughlines which extend beyond each episode to arc the entire season. Maybe the creators of the prove were going for something different, but on the first third of the season captured on this DVD position, the only constant character is MacGyver. And I appreciate the guy, but I couldn’t inspect fair him, and having no other recurring character meant that there was itsy-bitsy room for MacGyver himself to form emotional relationships either. Gradually, however, the show’s producers seemed to examine this jam and Pete Thornton is introduced — Murdoc wouldn’t appear until Season 2, if my research proves honest. Dana Elcar is a very helpful actor and his perfect straight-man turn helped Richard Dean Anderson and the expose immensely, and the present began to grow wings.

I feel unpleasant giving this DVD dwelling this low-ish rating, because MacGyver is one of the holy grails in my TV experience. There was no reveal I’d watched for longer, reruns and all, and rewatching something I’d first seen nearly 20 years ago is honest mind-blowing. However, given the dreadful restoration job, the sluggish packaging, the lack of bonus materials, and the account problems outlined above, I objective didn’t glean rewatching these DVDs to be as grand of a kick as I’d imagined it would be. However, there are mild gems I remember from my MacGyver chase (Murdoc please! And who remembers a young Jason Priestley, playing as a youngster who tries to pick up a gun as protection? ) that have yet to appear, so I’m hoping Paramount will quiet continue releasing MacGyver episodes from the vault. Even more so, I hope they will do a more comprehensive, in-depth job on the next batch of DVDs. This is a seminal note, a personal favourite of mine, and it deserves a royal DVD treatment, which it isn’t getting just now.

MacGyver is the unique DIY: do-it-yourselfer. You never witness him shoot a gun, he’s tremulous of heights, and he can work wonders with a rubber band and a paper clip. His esoteric scientific knowledge and ability to cobble together commonly available items for fresh scrape solving is one reason this expose is so common. Murdoc is his arch enemy who can’t be killed. Jack Dalton is his self-centered pilot friend. MacGyver works for the Phoenix Foundation, a consider tank headed up by his friend Pete Thornton. The Phoenix Foundation routinely gets called in to solve impossible situations around the world.

There are 21 episodes plus the pilot episode. I have read that all 22 episodes will be on the DVD but that the extras have not yet been announced.

1. Pilot: The illustrious episode in which MacGyver uses chocolate to halt an acid leak after a lab explosion.

This review is on the movie; I haven’t bought the DVD yet. Evangelion: 1.01 You Are (Not) Alone is a complete remake of the new animation, utilizing the latest animation technique to recreate the images. A first-rate majority of the novel vantage points are preserved in the presentation of the current version. Lavish exercise of computer graphics gives the world of Evangelion a more realistic and inviting observe. Mechanisms of Tokyo 3 grasp on a unique level of complexity and details, and action sequences peruse smoother and noteworthy better executed; these alone are worth the brand effect.

Two Angels are depicted in this re-animation of Evangelion, and both are given novel search for and deeper character development. The climax is on the battle with the 2nd Angel, which was Angel #5 in the recent OVA. The animators have obviously dispensed with grand efforts in the re-conceptualization of this Angel and its capabilities. It is not only eye-opening to witness the unusual ideas conjured up by the animators, but also the original preparation sequence of Tokyo 3 in combating the Angel. I am simply overjoyed that the animators worked on the re-animation so seriously. Of course, the only regret I have for this movie is the “panties” scene that the animators also decided to hold from the OVA, because I conception that the animators have finally decided to respect the intelligence of the more stale audience with all the enhancements and hard work. In the extinguish, the “panties” scene relegated Evangelion once again to fine the hormone-raging teenage audience, thereby offending the adults.

Well, with “GURREN LAGANN”, the creators of this anime series manages to acquire something modern, fun, explosive and objective delectable.

With this first volume situation, we fetch both vol. 1 (Episodes 1-5) and vol. 2 (Episodes 6-9) of “GURREN LAGANN”. The accepted anime titled “Tengen Toppai Gurren Lagann” aired on TV Tokyo support in April 2007 and completed it’s 27-episodes by Sept. 2007 and centers around two characters Simon and Kamina.

Both live underground with a bunch of orphans and due to earthquakes, they developed a system of people using manual drilling holes in order to go around. But one day, the life of a young driller named Simon discovers a itsy-bitsy mini drill underground. Simon is a stupefied young guy. Not too confident in himself and hates how his parents were killed during an earthquake. So, he works hard in order for everyone to live but also to derive whichever fancy he can earn. While continuing his digging, he discovers a itsy-bitsy drill and not long after, he discovers a stout robotic face.

As for Kamina, he’s the icy leader of a gang. He once saw the atmosphere with his father a long time ago and dreams of making it up to the surface but no one underground believes him. He comes up with a opinion to pick up to the surface with the back of Simon’s drill. The belief backfires and Kamina is save into a jail. Meanwhile, a gigantic monster robot-like figure comes out of the sky and lands in the group’s village underground. A girl sporting a bikini top and tight short shorts with a spacious rifle starts fighting with the monster robot. Her name is Yoko and all of a sudden both Kamina and Simon try to benefit her.

As the monster grows vicious, Simon introduces Kamina and Yoko to what he found underground. It happens to be a puny robot that Simon takes control of and eventually the three fight the robotic monster and raze up defeating it. Also, ruin up making it above the surface where they gape sunlight, blue skies, mountains and more…monster robots. It is learned that these things are called “Gunmen” and are piloted by Beastmen who have a hatred towards humans. The three must survive and outwit and defeat the Gunmen and with Kamina’s leadership and willing to hold anything head on with his machismo ego, he calls Simon’s robot Lagann. Kamina eventually comandeers a Gunmen robot and calls it Gurren. As a duo, the group is called Gurren Lagann.

Vol. 1 consists of episodes 1-5 and Vol. 2 consists of episodes 6-9.

VIDEO & AUDIO:

Each episode is featured in 1:78:1 Anamorphic Widescreen. The character designs by Atsushi Nishigori are modern and very different. I truly dig the character designs and the whole anime is quite intellectual and looks stylish and delicate icy.

As for the audio, I’ve watched both episodes in Japanese 2.0 and English 5.1 and as distinguished as I enjoyed the Japanese hiss track, when I examine an action-packed mecha, Digital 5.1 sountracks develop a broad disagreement for me in terms of enjoying a series and with that being said, I am very blissful with the English vocal dub. You have some quality suppose talent with Kyle Herbert as Kamina (does the convey of Son Goku in “Dragon Ball Z”), Michelle Ruff as Yoko (does the divulge of Rukia for “Bleach”) and Yuri Lowenthal (does the articulate for many video games and anime such as Sasuke Uchiha for “Naruto”) .

There is a lot of action, so you do glean some obedient usage from your front channels and some surround usage. But the dialogue comes quite distinct and overall, both video and audio were well done.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

This is where you can pick up some very awesome special features. Let’s initiate with the volume 1 DVD:

* Yoko Goes to Gainax - Order actress for Yoko (Marina Inoue) goes to GAINAX and sees how people execute “Gurren Lagann”. This lengthy featurette features Marina learning the incompatibility between “Key Animation” and “In-Between Animation” and “Composition”. She actually takes piece in doing in-between work for the first time and also, learning some of the jobs the staff did for “Gurren Lagann”. A very fun featurette!

* GAINAX Staff Interview - A very wintry featurette with director Hiroyuki Imaishi and other staff on the thought of “Gurren Lagann” and what their goal was in creating this anime series. Another cold featurette!

* Preview of Episode 6 - A preview of the upcoming interview

* Bandai Previews

With the second volume, the special features are:

* Televised Version of Episode 6 - With this episode being quite a bit sexual as Kamina and Simon try to glean a peer at the women without their clothes on in the hot tubs, this version that aired on the Sci Fi Channel features more of a flashback episode and edited with less focus on the horniness of Kamina and Simon and more about them working together as a team. This is presented only in 2.0 Stereo.

* Textless Opening and Ending themes - For those who care for the wintry music of opening theme “Sorairo Days” by Shoko Nakagawa and ending theme “Underground” by High Voltage.

* US & Japanese Trailers

* Bandai Previews

I can’t befriend but reflect how awesome this series was to behold! From the stylish presentation, the wacky humor, the adult-like humor and pervertedness and the imaginative mecha Gunmen robots and attack modes, the battles and the fun characters and the music, there is impartial too mighty to like about “Gurren Lagann”. I absolute found the series to be quite improbable!

The character of Kamina is fair so wild and crazy with how he is honest so carefree and unbiased doesn’t idea for battle, he objective does what he believes in and what he thinks is honest and decides at the spur of the moment. He has a draw with his words, no matter how crazy it may sound but it makes his character so frosty!

As for Simon, he is simply the underdog. He is a major component to the team because he pilots Lagann but at the same time, his fright and his emotions gain the best of him.

Yoko, her character is sexy and frosty. Sometimes you wonder if GAINAX or the character designer Atsushi Nishigori created such a sexy character for the purpose of being sexy or for the fact that many cosplayers will try to emulate the character and not wear distinguished clothes. Nevertheless, her character is cold as her body features somehow provide the fan service and also gets Simon distracted.

And of course, you have a group of other characters that are starting to reach their bear and as we become supportive human characters, you remove special view of their mecha (Gunmen) . They have a sort of character themselves because they are an extension of the people that pilot them but the amount of power demonstrated by them and what is unknown about the gunmen they pilot is honest fantastic.

And of course, this anime series is action-packed. In fact, there is a favorable balance of humor and action and each episode keeps your eyes glued to your television station and when it’s all done, it leaves you craving for more.

This first box state of “Gurren Lagann” is highly recommended to mecha fans, anime action fans and those who unprejudiced want to experience an anime that is stylish in presentation and unbiased delicious and fun with it’s storyline more!

“Gurren Lagann” can be described in one word and that is “Wonderful!”

This is an incredible anime. Forget what you may or may not have heard, and even if you’ve seen the first few episodes, you have no understanding what’s in store for you in the rest of the series. Every episode seems to bewitch it up a notch into absurdity, but that is the best fragment about this series. It never asks for opinion, it honest pushes itself over the top at every turn. It’s purely fun and delicious and a third of the contrivance through the series it gut checks you, and you’ll finally launch to understand what it is that makes Gurren Lagann stand apart from other anime.

The only scrape is with the DVDs themselves, (which is the only reason I gave it 3 stars and not 5) or maybe impartial the production team unhurried the translation. Where the recent Japanese version made no apologies for cussing and lude behavior, us Americans cannot be offered the same it seems. Our ways are different, and I understand why the US DVD release lacks the continued cussing that the modern had so grand of. But it really dents into the impact of the speeches of many of the lead characters. And it really drove over a lot of the comedic aspects of the modern. I’d give you an example but even here I’m puny with my words.

Overall though, the series is serene improbable, and now your younger ones can actually be pleased it if they wish to as most of the vulgar stuff has been removed properly. It’s smooth a lot of robot smashing action though, so be aware that violence does ensue at every turn. But that’s the other half of what makes this anime so great: the insane over the top robot smashing action. It takes Voltron, Gundam, Macross (Robotech), and Evangelion into tale but never refers backwards. The note does its fill thing knowingly embarking on the continued essence of mech anime. Everything feels modern if not mildly cliched, but everything is as it should be. It uses the best of animes before it, and will be a building block for those to approach after it.

Watch it if you haven’t yet, you can’t possibly not be entertained.

I am a high school Biology teacher and every year I expose this film to my students as an introduction to our eye on Genetics and Heredity. This is a immense film that illustrates how the Human Genome Project began and examines the potential ethical dilemmas as well as potential benefits the completion of this project may have for society. Rarely can I prove a “science” film and have so many students afterwards agree that it really was attractive. In fact given its 2 hour length we can’t effect it in one sitting and they beg me each day “Can we do that movie today? ” This movie stimulates some moving conversations in my classroom, and as a teacher, who could ask for more?

I deliver a college class on the Human Genome Project and always employ this as my intro. It gives a favorable generic background in layman’s terms, and then I can easily refer encourage to it later in class, as “remember in the movie you saw…”. I recommend it for ninth grade or older audience, including adults.

Magnum P.I. is my common TV explain of all time, and season 2 is my celebrated season. Here are the episodes:

Billy Joe Bob - A cowboy from Texas, who is searching for his younger sister, runs around the island and punches everyone in the jaw.

Dead Man’s Channel - In a tribute to “Raiders Of The Lost Ark,” the archaeologist’s daughter in this episode is named Marion. Tom Selleck had been the recent choice to play Indiana Jones in the movie. Selleck would eventually play a satire of the character in the season 8 episode “Tale Of The Lost Art.”

The Woman On The Beach - This is my common season 2 episode. It’s pudgy of action, adventure, mystery, and romance. Guest actress Judith Chapman gives an absolutely sparkling performance. The final scene of this episode would be redone as the final scene in the season 5 episode “Mac’s Attend.”

From Moscow To Maui - A Soviet military pilot defects and lands his airplane in the U.S.

Memories Are Forever - This two section episode is extremely vital to the history of the series. We learn a lot about Magnum’s activities in Vietnam. This episode introduced the Michelle character. This episode will be referenced through flashbacks in quite a few future episodes.

Tropical Madness - Magnum and Higgins regain enthusiastic in a savor triangle with a young British lady who is visiting the estate. Higgins punches Magnum in the jaw. No one believes Magnum when he says he was attacked by a Sumo wrestler and a dwarf.

Wave Goodbye - A Vietnam passe, who’s suffering unpleasant psychological hurt from the war, is the lead suspect in the slay of a young female surf champion.

Mad Buck Gibson - Aroused Buck Gibson is an eccentric writer who is visiting the estate. His character is very bewitching, and makes this a mammoth episode. There is no villain in this episode.

The Taking Of Dick McWilliams - Relatively expressionless episode about a man who gets kidnapped.

The Sixth Situation - Magnum and a ballet dancer salvage into some arguments, which leads to romantic attraction.

Ghost Writer - This episode is a satire that makes fun of grand corporations. The villain here is a titanic corporation. I worship capitalism, and I found this episode to be very titillating and laughable. Guest actor Elisha Cook Jr. plays a character that is different than the “Icepick” character that he would play in future episodes.

The Jororo Extinguish - This episode is elevated to greatness because it has one of the most arresting villains of any episode. The villain is a professional assassin who dresses up as a woman, and he is very skilled at both of these things.

Computer Date - Magnum tries to derive out which employee is stealing secrets from a corporation.

Try To Remember - Magnum gets in a unpleasant car accident, but he can’t remember what happened.

Italian Ice - Magnum rescues a young lady who is being held prisoner in an Italian castle. The young lady turns out to be a crazy psycho who becomes obsessed with Magnum.

One More Summer - Magnum joins a football team so he can protect one of the players.

Texas Lightning - Magnum gets hired by a rich woman from Texas. Her character is quite curious. I esteem this episode.

Double Jeopardy - A movie is being filmed at the estate.

The Last Page - Magnum is hired by a Vietnam Stale who can’t salvage over what happened during the war.

The Elmo Ziller Fable - This episode introduces a running joke that will continue throughout the rest of the series: during World War I, Higgins’s father was in the British military and traveled all over the world. As a result, Higgins has many illegitimate half brothers and illegitimate half sisters who are scattered all over the world.

Three Minus Two - Magnum gets alive to in the fashion industry.

Magnum, P.I. is a classic TV prove that never ages. Although the clothing can be comic, the acting is timeless and the scenary is breathtaking as it ever was…both the proper coastline AND the Ferrari! :-)

Season One was tall, and Season Two doesn’t disapoint either. Tom, T.C., Rick, and Higgins are at their best after a season of getting into the groove of working with each other, and I consider it shows in the comradery and chemistry that they have in the second season of the present. It is not a stretch to acquire that the Tom, T.C., and Rick served in Vietnam together, or that Higgins and Magnum really DO have a love/hate relationship. Which can only mean that they did their acting job really, really well.

After watching the first two seasons, the only thing that I was left to ask was, “WHEN ARE THEY COMING OUT WITH SEASON THREE?!” It can’t be soon enough for me.

Recommendation for catch (as opposed to renting it) of this series: ***** (5 Stars)!

Don’t occupy the Esteem Hina Spring Movie DVD for the special. This single, 45 petite Spring Special (affectionately renamed ‘Movie’ by Bandai) starts strong but ends aged and turns the unusual manga narrative it was based on into a joke.

Instead, grasp this disc for its features. This DVD has all the bonuses that we’ve been waiting for and denied since the series was released, including textless openings and closings to the series, the textless ending to Episode 24, and the textless ending to the Spring Special itself. Quiet, the trace is gorgeous steep for unprejudiced a bonus disc that has a single 45 microscopic epsiode on it and extras, but we can always hope the stamp will arrive down.

So if you’re going to capture it, prefer the DVD for the features to complement the series, and considor the ‘Movie’ an extra bonus.

…And don’t wretchedness, this isn’t the slay. The OVA Savor Hina Again will be released soon enough and it puts on a rather nice ending to the anime series.

Following after the events of the TV series and the Christmas Special, this is when Keitaro, Naru, and Mutsumi are getting ready to seize the entrance exam to Tokyo University again. The Spring Special also focuses on Shinobu, who is serene struggling with her feelings about Keitaro and her maintain self as well. With grand confidence about Tokyo U this time around, Keitaro dreams about his and Naru’s future in the middle of the exam and falls asleep. Thinking that he fails again, he runs away to an island in the Pacific with Naru soon after in hot pursuit to bring him aid, neither of them shiny their fate about Tokyo U. The residents of the Hinata join in the search as well, learning about a turtle civilization, and a girl named Nyamo who has a dream. What will become of our Tokyo U candidates? Will their dream approach right? Definitely another share of the account to add to your collection. And hopefully, we’ll be seeing the final OAV of this vast series Like Hina Again soon.

I found this wonderfully keen. Definite, the series doesn’t follow the game exactly, but this was unexcited fun and palatable. If you ever wanted to cruise through honest some Residence from the game, this should suit the bill honest blooming. Same style of humor, same fun deamons.

An average expose from a sizable writer with a disappointing finale. Should have been better but wasn’t awful.

Yeah, yeah, I know what you’re thinking. It’s about time the Ed Boys came out by seasons. Why, you ask, did Cartoon Network release two single disc DVDs before this entire first season position? Who knows? Maybe it was one of Eddie’s scams. Those volumes, Apt Ed-Ventures and Fool’s Par-Ed-Ise only had six shows each. But here, at last is the Ed-ertainment value of the year: all thirteen episodes (each consisting of two cartoons) from season one on two single discs (with four special features), and at a sign that leaves enough left for jawbreakers.

If you did capture the two single disc volumes (like me) the cartoons, “Sir Ed-A-Lot” “Who, What, Where Ed” and “Avast Ye Eds”, from the first volume are also on the Season One spot. “Fool on the Ed” repeats from the second volume.

Season one includes these episodes:

1. “Pop Goes the Ed” and “Over Your Ed”

2. The Ed-Touchables” and “Nagged to Ed”

3. Sir Ed-A-Lot” and “A Pinch to Grow an Ed”

4. “Dawn of the Eds” and “Vert-Ed-Go”

5. “Read All About Ed” and “Swiftly Shot Ed”

6. “An Ed Too Many” and “Ed-n-Seek”

7. “Discover into My Eds” and “Brand Yer Ed”

8. “Fool on the Ed” and “A Boy and His Ed”

9. It’s Way-Ed” and “Laugh Ed Laugh”

10. “A Glass of Warm Ed” and “Flea Bitten Ed”

11. “Who, What, Where, Ed!” and “Keeping Up with the Eds”

12. “Eds-Aggerate” and “Oath to an Ed”

13. “Button Yer Ed” and “Avast Ye Eds”

Oh boy. The 1st season on DVD. And for only 15 dollars? Man this is a grasp!!! This is probably Cartoon Networks longest and funniest running program. It revolves around 3 adolesents who all have similar names growing up in their cul-de-sac. They go on wild and hysterical adventures trying to scam the other kids out of their money so that they can seize their current snack. Jawbreakers. Though they try not to, most of their scams fail and wind up causing more anxiety for them. Others shows like The Grim adventures of Billy and Mandy or Camp Lazlo have tried to copy this expose and they all have failed miserably. Ed’Edd’N'Eddy is truly classic. This present is the meaning of goofy, off-the-wall comedy. Each character has their maintain uniquness about them. It laughable inspect how each kid deals with the Eds and their scams. Whether it’s Ed’s stupidity and droll quotes, Edd’s Cleaniness, or Eddy’s over-the-top scams and competiveness each character has a hilairious personality trait that will conflict with other personality traits in the present. Another strongpoint this explain has is it’s animation style which allows it to demonstrate emotions, distress, and facial features with ease. This is a note for anybody who has a honorable sense of humor. It may say it’s for kids 7 & up, but this is a point to for all ages. It stays accurate to it’s roots of comedy without ever feeling repetitive.(Unlike Family Guy) . And have it or not the demonstrate only has 12 characters that are ever shown. But you won’t even search for due to the big plots and profitable writing. Don’t be fooled by the 2 other DVDs: Fools Par-ed-dise and The Mis-Ed-ventures. These only have 6 episodes each from random seasons and cost more than this one. On this you acquire about 26-28 Ed-tacular episodes from the 1st season. So if you haven’t figured it out by now………Bewitch IT On OCTOBER 1OTH…………………..
